GW Race Control mobile app
Last updated: 20 June 2026.
SIA Random Projects provides GW Race Control as an event participant hub and safety tracking service. Event organisers use it to give registered participants private access to event information and enabled race-day tools.
Data we process
- participant identity and registration details, such as name, race number, category, team, country, e-mail and phone number;
- emergency contact name and phone number when supplied or edited;
- an app session identifier and an event-specific device identifier;
- precise location while the participant actively runs event tracking, including in the background when Always location access is granted;
- GPX/FIT files, route and fitness activity data uploaded by the participant or imported from Strava;
- tracking consent, public-map visibility choices, app activity needed for security, diagnostics and audit records.
Why we process it
We process this data to provide event registration information, participant safety tracking, route and result services, participant-requested integrations, security, support and legal compliance. We do not sell personal data and do not use it for cross-app advertising or tracking.
Location
Location access is requested only when the participant chooses to start tracking. With Always access granted, GW Race Control continues event safety tracking when the screen is locked or the app is in the background. The participant starts and stops tracking explicitly. Location is linked to the participant event entry so authorised event staff can operate the safety service. Public-map visibility is a separate participant choice.
Service providers
Data may be processed by our WordPress event site, GW Race Control App API, managed tracking infrastructure and hosting providers. Strava data is processed only when the participant chooses to connect Strava. These providers are used only to deliver the requested service.
Retention and control
Data is retained only for the event, operational, security and legal periods configured by the organiser. Participants can stop tracking, change public-map consent, sign out and request access, correction or deletion. Some registration and transaction records may need to be retained where required by law.
